On this occasion, Dr. S. B. Mujumdar expressed his joy by saying:
“It is a matter of immense happiness that both the first and second ranks in India have been secured by Symbiosis Universities. Reducing unemployment in India was once a dream, and with Skill Universities, we are bridging the gap between academia and industry. Skill and education must go hand in hand. This achievement is truly valuable, and Symbiosis has a tradition of excellence. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all who supported us.”
Dr. Swati Mujumdar, Pro-Chancellor of SSPU, stated:
“NIRF works on a very data-driven approach; it reflects the information and growth of a university. It’s a matter of great pride that Symbiosis Skills University has ranked first for the second consecutive year. SUAS Indore participated for the first time in the NIRF ranking and secured the second position, which is a proud moment.
Last year, when the Skill University category was introduced, only four universities participated, and SSPU ranked first. This year, 30 universities participated, yet SSPU retained its top position despite being a private university. The government has also encouraged private universities positively.
Private and self-financed universities play a major role in the progress of higher education. Achieving this success as a private, self-funded university is truly a matter of pride. Our teachers, students, and parents have also played a major role in this success.”
She further added:
“While running a skill university, I have come to understand the importance of skills in India. This led to the founding of the skill universities in Pune and Indore. Our goal is to create a positive impact on the geographical and social landscape through our work.
We are the only skill university in India that implements CSR projects worth over ₹30 crores, utilizing our campuses, models, and infrastructure for the benefit of students from economically weaker backgrounds. We also actively work towards women empowerment, having trained over 8,000 women in STEM courses in the past five years. Around 20% of our students start their own companies while still studying.”
Future Plans
Talking about upcoming initiatives, Dr. Mujumdar said:
“We are planning to apply for NAAC accreditation. Out of 15 Skill Universities in India, 5 are in Maharashtra. We are awaiting specific NAAC accreditation criteria for Skill Universities from the government.
We are preparing for NAAC registration for both Pune and Indore campuses under a binary model. Skill universities operate differently, with a greater emphasis on outcomes and industry collaboration.
That’s why we currently have over 500 industry collaborations. In the future, we plan to start defense technology production within the university.”
Prof. Dr. Vineeth Kumar Nair, Vice-Chancellor of SUAS, Indore, added:
“We are extremely delighted with this success. I thank everyone who contributed to this achievement. Symbiosis will continue to lead in the field of education, and we are committed to that goal.”
