Gravittus Foundation has announced the recipients of the prestigious Urja Awards 2026, honouring individuals who have made remarkable contributions across education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, sports, literature, social service, and humanitarian work.

This year’s Urja Lifetime Achievement Award is conferred upon Padma Bhushan Dr. Shantanurao Balwant Mujumdar, eminent educationist and Founder of Symbiosis International University, in recognition of his lifelong contribution to education and his vision of fostering the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam through academic excellence and global cultural integration.

The awards were held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in Pune, by Amruta Fadnavis, Founder of Divyaj Foundation, in the presence of Usha Kakade, Founder of Gravittus Foundation, MLC Vikram Kakade, and Aparna Kumar, wife of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.

Announcing the awards, Usha Kakade shares, “The Urja Awards are presented annually to recognise inspiring personalities whose outstanding work has positively impacted society. The award comprises a memento, a ceremonial shawl, and a sacred Tulsi plant. Now in its seventh edition, the initiative aims to celebrate individuals whose achievements motivate future generations.”

For more than five decades, Dr. Shantanurao B. Mujumdar has dedicated his life to the advancement of education, healthcare, and social welfare while strengthening bonds between Indian and international students through the philosophy of global harmony. His extraordinary legacy has earned him this year’s Urja Lifetime Achievement Award.

* Sports Excellence Award: Tilak Varma – Indian Cricketer

* Urja Literature Award: Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Shinde – Eminent Scholar of Folk Literature and the Satyashodhak Movement

* Urja Award for Education & Social Service: A. B. Rajmane – Head of Jivhala Institute for the Intellectually Disabled, Solapur

* Shaurya Award: Martyr Jawan Arjun Jadhav (posthumously honoured)

* Special Recognition Award: Irfan Mujawar – For his exemplary act of humanity in saving seven lives during the Malshiras accident.
